Why are Filipinos obsessed with skin colour and being white? What's the reason for this and the history?
In the Philippines you will discover an obsession with skin colour, and a strong desire to be white and not "black". Both Filipina girls and Filipino boys will try to stay out of the sun, and will often use skin whitening products to make their skin whiter. Is this because the old colonisers, the Spanish and the Americans, were whiter than Filipinos? Or is it because it meant you probably worked outside doing menial work?
